Balloon Spectacular
The morning of the balloon flight had arrived. Alarms were set, and an early rise was in order. The morning was beautiful, and the sky was crystal clear—a perfect day for a hot air balloon ride. The crew went their separate ways and climbed into two different balloons. My husband was in the large, bright yellow balloon with "Canberra" written in large black letters. Dotti and I stayed on the ground, which turned out to be fortunate because I captured some amazing pictures and videos of the 38 balloons floating over Lake Burley Griffin. The pilots were incredible, skillfully dropping the balloons down onto the water and skimming along its surface. A multitude of small watercraft and paddlers surrounded the balloons, with some even hitching a ride by hanging onto the dangling ropes. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience from the ground. The crew said it was amazing up in the balloons. A wonderful experience, one to add to that bucket list.
