The Arboretum
Our visit to the National Arboretum Canberra was delightful. The site offers spectacular views across the valley and towards the capital. Standing at the lookout on Dairy Farmers Hill provides a fantastic overview of the entire Arboretum. We thoroughly enjoyed the Bonsai Pavilion, where we saw some plants that are over 80 years old—a true marvel of human control over living plants.
We learned that there are well over 44,000 rare and endangered trees spread across a 250-hectare site. The Arboretum showcases the beauty of Australian flora and highlights the efforts made in conservation, scientific research, and education for a sustainable future.
Take the time to visit; there is something for everyone, even if you are not an avid gardener. The café and gift shop are a lovely bonus to the experience.
